The 2024 ProCon Leicestershire property and construction awards have announced the finalists for the Rising Star of the Year category. These awards celebrate excellence in the built environment sector, and this year’s new category highlights the achievements of three promising professionals: Adam Dodd, Alice Stewardson, and Claudia Carroll.
Adam Dodd, nominated by Willmott Dixon Construction, has excelled since joining the management trainee programme. As the first framework management practitioner, he has managed the delivery of 50 new build properties for social housing and overseen the conversion and refurbishment of at least 30 additional properties. Furthermore, he has directed pre-construction work for five other sites under development. His responsibilities extend to identifying suitable development sites, assembling effective design teams, securing funding, and engaging with contractors while focusing on end tenant benefits.
Alice Stewardson, nominated by Danaher & Walsh, has made significant strides since joining the company in September 2016 as a trainee quantity surveyor. Her blend of academic excellence and industry leadership makes her a standout professional. Alice has demonstrated exemplary leadership and technical expertise, mentoring placement students, engaging with local schools, and promoting construction careers at universities and national events. Academically, she achieved a first-class degree in quantity surveying in 2021 while maintaining her professional responsibilities.
Claudia Carroll, also nominated by Danaher & Walsh, commenced employment in August 2020 as a graduate site engineer after completing her degree in civil engineering. Her self-motivation and extensive experience in bridgeworks, highways, public realm works, car parks, drainage, and infrastructure are notable. Claudia manages small work sites as a sub-agent and assists project managers on larger sites, ensuring smooth site operations through planning, daily supervision, and quality and commercial monitoring. She collaborates with clients, designers, and local authorities to ensure efficient and correct project execution.
Robin McGinn, land and partnerships director at award sponsor, stated, “The award showcases some enthusiastic, emerging talent in property and construction, and we are delighted to be able to celebrate their innovation, ability, and contributions.” The ProCon Awards are supported by corporate sponsors Salus and Unique Window Systems, with other categories including Small Residential Scheme of the Year, Medium Residential Scheme of the Year, Large Residential Scheme of the Year, Small Non-residential Scheme of the Year, and Medium to Large Non-residential Scheme of the Year.
