London’s pressing issue of tech recruitment is set to be the focal point of an upcoming event in the city, with six prominent figures scheduled to speak.
Chieu Cao, the co-founder and chief marketing officer of a renowned employee perks and engagement company, will be speaking at the early evening ‘Tech Recruitment Timebomb’ event on October 10. Cao’s organisation boasts an impressive client list including high-profile names in the restaurant, technology, and fashion industries.
Joining Cao will be Eddie Lewis, co-founder of a notable recruitment platform; Craig Brown, product marketing manager at a leading recruitment CRM and marketing platform; Simon Burckhardt, managing director of a prominent UK communications company; Elaine Tyler, CEO of a graduate recruitment solutions provider; and Rob Crowley, head of human resources at a well-known peer-to-peer lending company.
Numerous surveys indicate that the challenge of sourcing tech talent has reached critical levels, exacerbated by the uncertainties surrounding Brexit and the fact that 13 per cent of positions are currently held by international workers. The skills shortage has led to escalating salaries, with over a third of digital tech businesses admitting they struggle to meet candidates’ pay demands.
This event will delve into these pressing issues and explore potential solutions. Chris Maguire, the event’s editor, emphasised the gravity of the situation: “Recruitment is a major challenge for growing tech businesses, and nowhere is this more evident than in London. The competition for talent is fierce, and start-ups are under increasing pressure to provide higher salaries or risk losing candidates. With Brexit around the corner, it’s important that we start a conversation among the city’s digital and tech community to tackle the problem head-on.”
This forthcoming event is poised to be a significant occasion for London’s tech industry, offering valuable insights into the challenges and potential solutions for tech recruitment.
