A new chatbot, named ‘Cobber’ after the official mascot of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, has been introduced to enhance the experience for participants and supporters of the event in Sydney this October. Developed with the assistance of Kriti Sharma, Vice President of Artificial Intelligence, the chatbot aims to facilitate engagement and enjoyment of the Games.
Patrick Kidd OBE, CEO of Invictus Games Sydney 2018, emphasised the crucial role of partners in delivering the event: “The delivery of Invictus Games Sydney 2018 simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of our partners. The introduction of Cobber the Chatbot is yet another example of their commitment to ensuring that our competitors, family, and friends have the best possible experience.”
Cobber, the Chatbot, is designed to connect with the global community in a meaningful manner, offering round-the-clock assistance. The development team, led by Kriti Sharma, utilised insights gained from previous chatbot projects to create an engaging and responsive virtual assistant. Sharma highlighted that many learnings from developing prior chatbots were instrumental in bringing Cobber’s personality to life. “Cobber the Chatbot can quickly reply to large numbers of messages seeking answers to commonly asked questions on topics such as event times and ticketing,” Sharma added.
This innovative approach is anticipated to significantly improve user interaction and accessibility during the Invictus Games. The chatbot’s ability to handle numerous queries efficiently will relieve pressure on live support teams, allowing them to focus on more complex issues. The implementation of Cobber stands as a forward-thinking solution aimed at enhancing the overall user experience for attendees and supporters alike.
With the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 right around the corner, the introduction of Cobber the Chatbot marks a significant step towards integrating advanced technology to improve event participation. This development underlines a commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all involved.
