Pixel Kicks, a full-service digital agency, has been entrusted with the development of a new website for the respected independent games studio, Ghost Town Games. Known globally for their celebrated co-op cooking game Overcooked and its sequels, Ghost Town Games has chosen Pixel Kicks to enhance their digital presence.
Ghost Town Games, based in Manchester, garnered international acclaim for creating Overcooked, a cooperative cooking game that accommodates one to four players. This success was subsequently followed by Overcooked 2 and Overcooked All You Can Eat. Despite their success, Ghost Town Games has not previously focused extensively on building a robust online presence.
Pixel Kicks aims to develop an immersive and interactive experience for Ghost Town Games’ dedicated fanbase. This platform will not only allow fans to view and discuss existing games but will also highlight upcoming releases as they are announced. The new website is anticipated to be launched in December.
Jamie Bray, the commercial lead at Pixel Kicks, expressed the agency’s commitment to reflecting Ghost Town Games’ innovation and passion through outstanding design. Pixel Kicks has previously completed similar projects for other prominent gaming companies, such as Marvelous Games, the European publishing arm of Marvelous Inc. The agency has also collaborated with Airship Images, a renowned game art production studio specialising in high-quality character design. The diverse team at Pixel Kicks includes talented digital artists and designers who work with global clients like Microsoft Game Studios, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Playground Games.
Both Overcooked and its sequel received BAFTA awards for Ghost Town Games, while Gemma Langford, the studio’s writer and business development manager, was honoured with a Breakthrough Brit Award in 2019.
The collaboration between Pixel Kicks and Ghost Town Games marks a significant development in the gaming industry, promising an enhanced online experience for fans and a robust platform for future releases.
