Venturefest North West 2018 commences today, promising to draw over 1,000 attendees to Manchester Central, marking a record year for the event.

Now in its fifth year, this event—previously known as Venturefest Manchester—expands its regional focus and is set to be the largest gathering yet. Featuring inspirational speakers and interactive workshops, the event aims to foster innovation and business growth across the North West.

A highlight of the event is the Innovation Showcase Competition. Open to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from across the North West, the competition attracted a record 173 entries. Twelve businesses will pitch their innovative ideas to a panel of investors, competing for awards in Product Innovation, Service Innovation, Digital Innovation, and Innovative Established Business. Additionally, an overall winner and an audience-selected winner will receive substantial business support packages from the organisers.

The event also boasts a diverse lineup of speakers and breakout sessions. Notable speakers include Jenny Tooth OBE, Chief Executive of the UK Business Angels Association, and Richard Noble OBE, Project Director of the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car project. Noble remarked, “Like the US in the 1960s we need technical successes for the UK and our 2019 Bloodhound record challenge will be a big one. Nothing about the Bloodhound project is easy and it never will be, but success here will bring great rewards in terms of education and confidence.”

This year’s host is Priya Lakhani OBE, the founder of a national food brand. The event is supported by various partners who provide the crucial business aid required for innovative enterprises to thrive. Heather Waters, national enterprise manager at a leading banking institution, noted, “We know that entrepreneurs and small business owners are looking for more than a provider of financial services. They want a bank that helps them to concentrate on what’s important to them – establishing and growing their business. That’s why we’re delighted to support Venturefest North West 2018 and be part of an event which gives businesses in the region the opportunity to innovate, grow and access the knowledge, finance and expertise they need to progress to the next stage of their business journey.”

The expanded focus and increased attendance highlight the growing importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in the North West. This year’s event aims to provide attendees with unparalleled access to business leaders, potential new partners, and networking opportunities, thereby facilitating significant business growth and collaboration.

Venturefest North West 2018 is set to be a landmark event, fostering innovation, providing diverse opportunities, and driving business growth in the region.
