Three prominent female figures in the Leeds tech sector will address an exclusive event focused on the region’s burgeoning digital industry. Leeds, home to 1,350 digital companies employing 10,000 individuals, is experiencing significant growth, yet faces challenges amidst intense competition.

The breakfast event titled ‘How can Leeds win the tech race?’ will take place on October 2. Anne Dornan, head of Innovation; Eve Roodhouse, chief officer of economic development, City of Leeds; and Laura Harper, head of Intellectual Property, Creative & Digital Industries at a leading law firm, are confirmed speakers.

Leeds already hosts the largest digital festival in the North, and the success of a flagship 13-storey building underscores the sector’s prominence. However, competition from Manchester and Birmingham is fierce, contributing to tech recruitment challenges, with over half of digital companies reporting issues.

Other speakers at the event include James Gupta, founder and CEO of Synap; Richard Ellis, managing principal – Digital Retail at Answer Digital; Adam Hildreth, CEO of Crisp Thinking; Alex Epstein, chief marketing officer at Big Change; Mark Fordyce, managing director at York Data Services; and Martin Stow, director at Nexus. The event is scheduled to run from 8am to 9.30am.

This gathering aims to address key issues and opportunities within Leeds’ digital sector, providing a platform for thought leadership and collaborative solutions.
