A security company with over three decades of experience has been named Solihull’s top business. MAN Commercial Protection received the honour at the annual Solihull Awards, organised by the town’s chamber of commerce.
Founded in 1993 and based in Shirley, MAN Commercial Protection provides fully trained security officers across the UK, holding SIA approved contractor status for security guarding, door supervision, CCTV, and key holding services. The firm collaborates with a wide range of clients including Telford International Centre, Transport for West Midlands, Sunseeker London, Black Country Living Museum, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Judges praised MAN Commercial Protection for its diversified approach to offering and supplying services to individuals, businesses, and the broader community. They highlighted that the security sector is particularly challenging and commended the company’s longevity in the business.
The awards ceremony, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole at the NEC, welcomed over 300 guests and featured BBC West Midlands presenter PJ Ellis as the host. Twelve awards were presented in various categories, with MAN Commercial Protection winning the training, education, and development in people category before being selected as the overall business of the year.
Other notable winners included Visit Knowle and Evac+Chair International, which both secured double awards. The Solihull Chamber’s president, Eileen Schofield, presented the President’s Award to Steve Whitmarsh, CEO of the vehicle management firm Run Your Fleet.
The recognition of MAN Commercial Protection as Solihull’s top business underscores its significant contributions to the security sector and its excellence in service diversification and community support.
