Sapphire Holidays’ £2 Million Eco-Investment in Cornwall Office Expansion

Sapphire Holidays has embarked on a significant £2 million investment to transform an industrial site in Cornwall into an eco-friendly office.

This development at Hayle Business Park reflects Sapphire Holidays’ commitment to sustainability and corporate growth, accommodating more employees and ensuring energy efficiency.

Sapphire Holidays has invested £2 million in transforming a former industrial building at Hayle Business Park in Cornwall into a modern, low-carbon office. This move is part of a strategic initiative to accommodate the company’s growth and reinforce their commitment to sustainability. The new office will cater to the increasing demand in their self-catering holiday letting services, incorporating advanced ecological designs.

The repurposed building has been designed by KAST Architects to rigorous energy efficiency standards. It will primarily house teams from Classic Cottages and Boutique Retreats, with ample space for future growth.

Original materials from the site have been preserved, and new building materials are sourced locally. These efforts highlight the project’s emphasis on sustainability and respect for local resources.

Ground source heating will be provided by six bore holes drilled 150m deep on the site.

A 132-panel solar array will power the building, update a battery bank, and supply electric car charging bays, while surplus energy will be sold to the National Grid.

Additionally, the office exterior will feature a wildflower meadow as part of the ecological considerations, maintaining existing trees to promote local biodiversity.

Simon Tregoning, owner and chairman of Sapphire Holidays, emphasises the importance of sustainability in their business model. He stated, “With this repurposed building we’ll be able to consolidate all our teams on one site and cater for the future growth of the business.” His commitment to sustainability underpins the entire project.

The project management is being led by Ian Cavley of IC Building Consultancy, who has a history with the Sapphire House project, ensuring continuity in quality and vision.

The new office is expected to be completed by next Easter and will initially house staff from Classic Cottages and Boutique Retreats. It has been designed to accommodate the expected increase in team size and future company expansion.

Sapphire Holidays already manages 2,650 UK properties and generates £60m in holiday sales annually. The new workspace aligns with their growth trajectory.

Currently employing over 185 people, mostly in Cornwall, Sapphire Holidays enhances its staff welfare by creating a conducive work environment through innovation and sustainability.

The company’s enduring impact is marked not just in economic terms, but also in its social responsibilities, embodying a business model that balances profit with environmental stewardship.

The new development supports the operational integration of Sapphire Holidays’ key brands, such as Aspects Holidays and Boutique Retreats.
