In a continued expansion of its property portfolio, Frasers Group has acquired St Nicholas Arcade, the main shopping centre in Lancaster. The acquisition aligns with the group’s strategy to revitalise physical retail locations across the United Kingdom.

The purchase of the 160,000 sq ft St Nicholas Arcade, commonly referred to as St Nics by locals, is the latest addition to the group’s growing list of shopping centres. Last year, the retail giant expanded its portfolio with acquisitions of The Mall in Luton for £58 million, the Overgate shopping centre in Dundee for approximately £30 million, and the Frenchgate shopping centre in Doncaster.

Currently, the Lancaster centre houses tenants including Next, Boots, HMV, and Trespass. The shopping precinct attracts around 4 million visitors annually, highlighting its significance in the local retail landscape. The acquisition represents a strategic move to not only bolster the group’s real estate assets but also to enhance consumer experiences.
