A renowned tech entrepreneur and former head of a major data centre company has taken a significant role with a leading podcasting platform.
Michael Tobin OBE, a serial tech entrepreneur and former CEO of Telecity Group, has been appointed as the non-executive chairman of a global podcasting platform. This appointment is effective immediately, following Malcolm Wall’s decision to step down after three and a half years in the role.
During his tenure at Telecity Group, Tobin was instrumental in growing the company’s market capitalisation from £6 million to £1.6 billion. Since stepping down from his CEO role in 2014, Tobin has focused on supporting entrepreneurs and businesses in the digital and technology sectors.
In recognition of his contributions to the digital economy, Tobin received The Order of the British Empire in 2014. He currently holds positions on multiple technology company boards across four continents.
The new appointment comes at a dynamic time for the podcasting platform and the broader podcast industry. The platform’s CEO expressed gratitude to the outgoing chairman, Malcolm Wall, for his invaluable guidance during the company’s early years. At the same time, he welcomed Tobin, highlighting his stellar career and expertise in revenue generation and growth via mergers and acquisitions.
In addition to Tobin’s appointment, the podcasting platform has also added Brad Clarke, the company’s chief financial officer, to the board. Clarke joined the platform in March 2018 and brings extensive experience from the media industry, having previously served as group finance director at another media company and held various roles at News UK.
The platform currently hosts over 14,000 content channels, collaborating with notable content partners such as the Associated Press, The BBC, among others.
These strategic appointments signal a forward-thinking approach for the podcasting platform, positioning it for substantial growth and success in the evolving podcast industry.
