The Prime Video Craft Academy is offering exciting new opportunities for aspiring film and television professionals in Manchester and Leeds.

With 25 paid apprenticeships and traineeships up for grabs, the academy is opening its doors to new talent through a series of informative open days.

Overview of the Prime Video Craft Academy

The Prime Video Craft Academy, a collaboration between Amazon Prime and the National Film and Television School (NFTS), is set to offer 25 paid apprenticeships and traineeships. This initiative aims to nurture talent within the UK film and television industry.

Prospective candidates are invited to attend open days in Manchester and Leeds on September 9. These sessions will provide information on the academy’s offerings and the application process.

Bursaries and Funding

For the first time, the programme will offer bursary funding to applicants from Manchester and Leeds. This funding is intended to cover accommodation costs during the initial eight-week training period at NFTS’s Beaconsfield campus.

After completing this initial training, trainees will return home to complete their work placements. This support aims to make the academy more accessible to a wider range of applicants.

Training and Work Experience

The Prime Video Craft Academy adopts a ‘get paid as you learn’ model, offering trainees top-tier training from industry professionals.

Trainees have the opportunity to gain work experience on UK-produced Amazon Original Series. They may also work with Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios partners, providing invaluable industry exposure.

This approach allows trainees to build a foundation of both theoretical and practical knowledge in their chosen field.

Manchester Open Day

The Manchester open day will be held at dock10 Studios in MediaCity from 12.30pm to 2pm. Attendees will receive an overview of the traineeship and apprenticeship programmes.

The session will include tips for the application and interview process, a Q&A session, and a tour of the studios. dock10 Studios has been the production site for shows including A Question of Sport and University Challenge.

Leeds Open Day

The Leeds event, scheduled from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at the NFTS’ Leeds base, will follow a similar format to the Manchester session.

Participants will have the chance to learn more about the opportunities available through the Prime Video Craft Academy and meet industry professionals.

Eligibility and Preparation

All attendees must be at least 16 years old. It is recommended that prospective candidates review the programme information before attending the open day.

Attendees should also watch a video about the Prime Video Craft Academy, available on the academy’s website. This preparation will help candidates make the most of the open day experience.

The Prime Video Craft Academy’s new initiatives aim to make careers in film and television more accessible.

By offering bursaries and thorough training, the academy is paving the way for the next generation of industry professionals.
