Plans for a new logistics warehouse in South Liverpool that could support over 1,200 jobs have entered the public consultation phase.
A public consultation has begun for an ambitious project to develop an 87,967 sq m logistics warehouse on the site of the former Prinovis printing factory in South Liverpool. The 50-acre site, located at Dakota Drive in Speke, was acquired by GB Europe Holdings earlier this year. The transformation of this location is poised to bring significant economic benefits to the area.
The former Prinovis site, once a bustling hub for publication gravure printing, shuttered in 2022 due to market decline and rising raw material costs, particularly in energy. Now, GB Europe Holdings plans to demolish the outdated structures and replace them with a state-of-the-art facility that includes office space, HGV loading zones, and staff parking. Modern sustainability measures such as electric vehicle charging, secure cycle parking, and extensive landscaping are also part of the plan.
Residents are invited to view the project details at a public drop-in exhibition on Tuesday, July 23, from 3 pm to 7 pm at the David Lloyd Leisure Centre in Speke. Additionally, feedback can be provided via a newly launched public consultation website. If approved, the logistics facility will be managed by Uniserve and is expected to support up to 1,200 jobs, generating approximately £75 million in annual economic benefits. During the construction phase, the project could also create around 680 jobs.
A spokesperson for GB Europe Holdings emphasised the significance of the project, stating, ‘Our plans would create a state-of-the-art logistics centre, creating jobs and generating significant local economic benefit.
