Plans for a substantial employment hub in south Liverpool have been tabled, aiming to generate over 500 jobs. The proposal by GB Europe Holdings Limited focuses on transforming a former printing site into a modern logistics facility.
GB Europe Holdings Limited has submitted a planning application to Liverpool City Council for a new logistics hub in Speke, South Liverpool. The former 50-acre Prinovis printing factory site is set to become an 87,967 sq m warehouse, promising modern facilities and numerous employment opportunities once operational.
The proposal is not only about creating an employment space; it’s about developing a high-quality working environment. The logistics hub will feature state-of-the-art amenities, emphasizing both functionality and modern design, tailored to meet current business needs and sustainability standards.
Earlier this year, GB Europe Holdings engaged the local community in a consultation process. Feedback from this community engagement has been integral to shaping the final proposal.
The company has expressed its gratitude to those who participated in the consultations and has committed to maintaining an ongoing relationship with local residents as the project progresses.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of the proposal. The new facility will include essential green features such as electric vehicle charging stations and secure cycle parking.
The project also emphasizes extensive landscaping with plans for new trees to blend the development into its surroundings effectively. These measures are designed to enhance the site’s environmental value while promoting eco-friendly transport.
The anticipated economic benefits are substantial, with over £35 million expected to flow into the local economy annually once the facility is operational. This development is poised to provide more than 500 permanent jobs and support an estimated 680 jobs during the construction phase.
Such an influx of employment opportunities is set to stimulate economic growth, offering a boost to local businesses and contributing to Liverpool’s broader economic development strategy.
The proposed warehouse will not only replace outdated facilities but will provide upgraded modern conveniences, including office spaces, HGV loading areas, and ample staff parking.
The facility’s design prioritizes a high-quality work setting, aligning with contemporary standards and ensuring the space meets the operational needs of businesses efficiently.
Avison Young is managing the planning consultancy for the project. A decision from the Liverpool City Council regarding the application is expected in the early part of next year.
GB Europe Holdings has committed to working alongside local authorities and relevant agencies to ensure that the job creation benefits are maximised for the local community.
GB Europe Holdings aims to integrate the logistics hub seamlessly into the local area, bringing economic rejuvenation to a site previously considered redundant.
Local residents can expect increased employment prospects and enhanced collaboration between the developer and community as the project progresses.
The proposed logistics hub in Speke represents a significant investment in Liverpool’s future, with the potential to substantially boost local employment and economic growth. Through innovative design and community collaboration, this project aims to revitalise a key area of the city.
