Pembrokeshire-based mechanical engineering firm Ledwood Mechanical Engineering is set to create up to 40 new roles to support major projects across the UK. The company is forecasting a significant increase in revenue, expecting to reach £50m in the 2024/25 financial year.

Ledwood Mechanical Engineering’s current and upcoming projects include work for the new Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset and investments in the Milford Haven Waterway, involving the LNG terminal at South Hook and energy company Valero. These projects necessitate the addition of skilled personnel, leading to the recruitment of welders, mechanical fitters, pipe fitters, riggers, and platers.

Managing director Nick Revell highlighted the firm’s capacity and the rising demand. He stated, “With an extensive fabrication facility at Pembroke Dock, we deliver complex engineering projects throughout the UK. Unprecedented demand means that we now have vacancies for both qualified personnel and those looking for apprenticeships.” He further emphasised that these opportunities could be particularly appealing to individuals affected by the downsizing of Tata Steel in Port Talbot.

Ledwood Mechanical Engineering, currently employing 400 people, sees these new roles as critical to supporting its expanding project portfolio and meeting client needs efficiently.

The company’s proactive approach in workforce expansion is aligned with its strategic objectives to enhance operational capability and sustain long-term growth. The new recruitment drive is not only a step towards fulfilling immediate project requirements but also a strategic move to build a robust talent pipeline for future engineering demands.

Ledwood Mechanical Engineering’s initiative to create new jobs is a testament to its growth and commitment to delivering complex engineering solutions across the UK. The firm’s efforts to expand its workforce reflect its strategic vision for long-term success and operational excellence.
