north west firm plans hq renovation following successful year business manchester

Sigma, a user experience agency based in North West England, has announced plans to renovate its Macclesfield headquarters after a successful financial year.

Following an impressive year, Sigma anticipates reaching £4 million in revenue and intends to invest £250,000 in upgrading its headquarters. Founded in 2007 by Managing Director Hilary Stephenson, Sigma collaborates with clients to develop and test prototypes and early-stage web interfaces or software applications. The agency has expanded significantly over its first decade, growing to a team of 45 and opening a second office in Cambridge.

Sigma’s client list is notable, featuring prominent names such as AstraZeneca, Sport England, BBC, Mind, Essar Oil, Zuto, Stockport Council, and the University of Manchester. “On the back of new client wins and a bigger team, we are rapidly growing our portfolio,” stated Stephenson. “We engage with our clients through inclusive usability. This means we carry out a lot of research, co-design, prototyping and usability testing with the intended audience of our clients.” Stephenson further expressed the company’s desire for steady growth, emphasising new partnerships and closer collaboration with its wider group to tackle larger project challenges.

The planned renovation will see Sigma upgrade its user research labs and workshop facilities, with interior design experts from a renowned group leading the project. Stephenson commented, “We’re thrilled to re-affirm our commitment to Macclesfield, a town that many of us also call home. With this project, our aim is to create a revitalised office space that supports our growth plans for the coming years, while retaining the unique industrial character of the old cotton mill we’ve worked out of for so long.”

Atul Bansal, co-founder of the interior design group involved in the renovation, remarked, “Sigma was looking for an honest space which would allow staff to work exactly how they wanted in an environment that fit its needs, without any unnecessary trend-led gimmicks—a brief which suits us perfectly.”

Sigma’s commitment to enhancing its workspace demonstrates its forward-thinking approach and dedication to both its team and clients. The planned HQ renovation marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing growth and success.
