In a strategic move, a Newcastle-based group has successfully acquired three firms in the North West, significantly bolstering its position in the market.
The acquisitions involve ABCA Systems, a company specialising in Fire, Security, and Electrical Compliance Solutions, taking over Southport’s Maintec, Blackburn’s AGS Tech, and Wigan-based HBS Fabrication Northwest. This move is expected to enhance the group’s established dominance in the sector, particularly within the social housing market, facilitating substantial further growth.
Phil Miller, CEO of ABCA Systems, has been at the helm of the family business since 2005. Under his leadership, the group has grown to achieve an annual turnover exceeding £40m. The group’s first acquisition occurred in 2020 with Tyneside Security. Since then, backed by Trimountain Partners and Santander UK, ABCA Systems has consistently expanded, adding an impressive £10m in annual revenues through these latest acquisitions.
The integration of Maintec and AGS brings additional expertise and capabilities in Fire and Security compliance to the group, offering opportunities to drive growth via increased scale, cross-selling, and future innovation. Meanwhile, the alliance with HBS Fabrication Northwest, known for its steel security doors, allows ABCA Systems to provide a vital and complementary service to its clientele.
Phil Miller expressed optimism about the acquisitions, stating, “These three leading companies will help us provide an even higher level of service and satisfaction to our clients, especially those in the social housing sector.”
He further highlighted the return of key individuals, Chris King and Colin Prescott, to the ABCA Systems Group as an exciting development. Both were previously part of the group before growing AGS organically and expanding HBS. Additionally, Steve Cranshaw of Maintec joins the leadership team, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience. Miller’s philosophy of having the ‘Right People, Right Place, Right Time’ reflects his confidence in the newly combined team’s potential to drive the company towards a brighter future.
Colin Prescott, representing AGS and HBS, remarked, “Joining forces with ABCA Systems Group feels like coming home. The like-minded approach and synergy between our teams are undeniable, and together, we will continue to innovate and lead in our field. This is an exciting chapter for all of us, and we look forward to achieving even greater success together.”
Steve Cranshaw echoed this sentiment, stating, “Maintec’s integration into ABCA Systems Group marks a significant achievement for us. We are eager to collaborate with our new partners and leverage our combined strengths to deliver exceptional value to our clients. The future is bright for all involved.”
The integration of these three North West firms into the Newcastle group is set to elevate service levels and market reach, ensuring a promising future for all parties involved.
