Moody Logistics and Storage has been appointed as the distributor for the North East region by Fortec, resulting in a 20% boost to its palletised delivery business. This expansion underscores significant growth and opportunities for the Cramlington-based family business.
The newly appointed role has already led to the hiring of two additional HGV drivers to manage the anticipated increase in delivery volumes. Palletised goods collected from Fortec’s distribution hub in the East Midlands will now be handled by Moody Logistics, which aims to optimise revenue by securing more freight from the North East for their return journeys.
The appointment is partly a result of Moody Logistics’ established relationship with the Pall-Ex Group, which acquired Fortec in 2020. As a founding member and shareholder of Pall-Ex Group, Moody Logistics received the Operational Excellence Award for North East and Scotland earlier this year, highlighting its expertise in the palletised sector.
Barry Byers, Pall-Ex Group Managing Director – UK Business Units, commented: “Moody Logistics and Storage were an obvious choice for this partnership in the North East, as long-standing members that consistently deliver quality services. It is a fantastic opportunity for Fortec and Moody Logistics to work closely to benefit from growth in the area and we are looking forward to seeing the positive effect this will have on the network.”
Caroline Moody, Managing Director of Moody Logistics, expressed her satisfaction with the new partnership: “We are pleased to become a trusted distributor within the Fortec network. This partnership represents an important growth opportunity for Moody’s, representing a 20% increase in our palletised deliveries. As a result, we have expanded our team by welcoming two new HGV drivers. Our goal remains to reduce any ‘empty’ miles by generating more freight from the North East for the return journey to Fortec’s distribution hub that will further boost the revenue potential.”
The new distribution deal with Fortec not only signifies a major growth milestone for Moody Logistics but also underscores the company’s significant expertise and long-standing reputation within the palletised delivery sector.
