A Manchester-based FinTech company has turned to Belarus to meet growing demand for its cloud-based payments technology.
The firm has partnered with a software development company in Belarus to leverage its extensive tech skills. The Manchester business acknowledged the need to look beyond its in-house capabilities to satisfy the rising demand for its products. The Belarusian company employs nearly 700 specialists in software and coding at its development centre in Minsk.
James Higgins, the product director, explained, “Our needs are two-fold – although we recruit our own in-house team, there are projects that require an injection of skills almost overnight to cope with demands and this is where the Belarusian company can help us.” Higgins further noted that finding people with a comprehensive range of software development skills remains a challenge, necessitating reliance on the expertise provided by the Belarusian team.
The collaboration will focus on a combined infrastructure project. Higgins remarked, “It’s the best of both worlds – we have a skilled development team based nearshore, with whom we communicate via videoconference daily, and we can also speak directly with our account team in Manchester if needed.”
Paul Green, Chief Commercial Officer, emphasised the benefits of such partnerships, particularly for tech start-ups in the Manchester area. “It’s always great to work with local businesses. However, the rapid growth of many start-ups means that scaling up software development skills to manage projects alongside routine operations is challenging. This is where the Belarusian company can provide both the breadth of skills and personnel.”
The alliance between the Manchester FinTech firm and the Belarusian software development company highlights the increasing trend of tech firms seeking specialised skills internationally to meet their growing demands.
