Liverpool City Council has given the green light to an 80-bed hotel opposite the upcoming Everton Stadium, sparking interest in the area.

Despite parking concerns, the project promises to revitalise a Grade II-listed building, indicating potential growth in the Kirkdale ward.

Liverpool City Council’s planning committee has approved an ambitious 80-bed hotel project situated opposite Everton FC’s forthcoming 52,888-seat stadium. This decision comes amid significant concerns regarding the area’s inadequate parking facilities. Proposed by Rohan Hughes and designed by Atelier 2 Architecture, the hotel will occupy land bordered by Regent Road, Fulton Street, and Blackstone Street in the Kirkdale ward, directly facing the £760 million stadium expected to debut in the 2025-26 football season.

The reconstruction will house 32 bedrooms within the historic building and 48 in the new structure. It will feature a basement spa, pool, restaurant, bar, treatment rooms, changing facilities, and a reception.

While Cllr William Shortall reiterated parking issues, council planners argued the benefits of returning the listed building to use. The scheme was ultimately deemed acceptable despite the parking constraints.

These provisions aim to ease the parking and transport challenges, ensuring smoother access and mobility for large crowds during events.

This development brings optimism for economic revitalisation, with hopes that it triggers additional investments and urban regeneration in the vicinity.
