Leeds has once again asserted its importance in the hospitality education world by hosting the 32nd Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME) conference. Bringing together 75 distinguished experts from academia, industry, and government, the event provided a dynamic forum to address current challenges and share cutting-edge research and case studies.

Held at the renowned Leeds Beckett University, the conference examined the hospitality sector’s impact on the environment, community, and workplace. Sessions throughout the week covered critical topics such as mental health within the workplace, licensed accommodation disruptions, the industry’s skill gaps, and the effectiveness of corporate social responsibility initiatives. The variety of sessions highlighted the council’s commitment to addressing pressing issues within the sector.

Dr Peter Robinson, Head of the Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Management at Leeds Beckett University, remarked, “We were delighted to be able to host the 2024 Council for Hospitality Management Education Conference at Leeds Beckett.” His comments underscore the university’s position as a centre of excellence for hospitality management education, known for its top-ranking School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Claire Heap, Head of Conference Leeds, praised the event, emphasising the significance of the hospitality sector to the national visitor economy. She said, “The hospitality sector is pivotal to the success of the visitor economy nationally and it was fantastic to see the city play host to The Council for Hospitality Management Education Annual Conference at Leeds Beckett University.”
