Recent announcements by Come Play With Me (CPWM) reveal significant changes in their operating structure.
These changes include promotions and new appointments aimed at enhancing CPWM’s ability to foster an equitable, inclusive, and diverse music industry.
New Leadership Roles
Yorkshire-based music development organisation Come Play With Me (CPWM) has announced a series of key appointments as part of a new operating structure. CPWM has promoted Antonia Lines to COO, appointed Alice Scott as Senior Partnerships and Development Manager, and Jilly Chatten as Senior Programmes & Events Manager. Further bolstering the leadership team, Hazel Savage (founder of musiio, VP of SoundCloud) and Dom Smith (editor of Soundsphere Magazine) join as new board members.
After two years of rapid growth as a small and reactive regional team, CPWM has taken these steps to evolve into a nationally-focused organisation. This new leadership structure aims to better deliver on their mission – to advocate for an equitable, inclusive, and diverse music industry.
Antonia Lines’ Prominent Role
An integral part of Come Play With Me for years, the newly promoted COO Antonia Lines brings a wealth of experience to her role. From running music festivals and marketing to working in press and managing DIY labels, her background is extensive.
Previously serving as CPWM’s Diversity Project Manager and Head of Programmes and Operations, Lines has already made significant contributions towards CPWM’s mission of inclusivity and diversity. Her firsthand experience makes her a fitting choice to oversee the organisation’s broader objectives.
Jilly Chatten’s Contribution
CPWM’s new Senior Programmes and Events Manager, Jilly Chatten, comes with an impressive track record. As Clue Records manager and former Operations Manager at Brudenell Social Club, Chatten’s experience is vast.
Her new role will involve producing engaging, inclusive, and empowering events. Chatten will also be exploring operational and collaborative label opportunities between CPWM and Clue Records.
With years of experience as an international tour manager, Chatten brings a unique perspective that will enhance CPWM’s event planning and execution capabilities.
Alice Scott: A Key Figure in Leeds’ Music Scene
Joining the new CPWM management team is Alice Scott, a lynchpin of Leeds’ close-knit DIY music community. She made her way in the music industry as a member of renowned Leeds-based bands Post War Glamour Girls and Tallsaint.
Scott also served as the Events and Venue Coordinator of the acclaimed live arts space CLAY. Her rich background in the music industry makes her an invaluable addition to the CPWM team.
Scott’s role as Senior Partnerships and Development Manager will focus on building and nurturing strategic partnerships that align with CPWM’s mission of fostering diversity and inclusivity in music.
Upcoming CPWM Events
CPWM has a series of events lined up to further their mission of promoting diversity within the music industry. These events include the London edition of the I Know A Place Conference on 7th November.
In January 2025, CPWM will announce the 8th I Know a Place Leeds, which will respond to this year’s LGBTQ+ Musician’s Insights report.
I Know A Place aims to champion and celebrate diversity within the music industry. The event comprises a range of free-entry panels, workshops, keynotes, and in-depth conversations.
Mission for Inclusivity
By working in collaboration with key delivery partners across the sector, CPWM is now better equipped to support people from marginalised communities.
The new leadership team will help CPWM in offering sustainable careers within the ever-evolving music industry.
Come Play With Me’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity remains at the forefront of their mission, driving the organisation forward.
An Evolution in Focus
After years of operating as a small, reactive regional team, CPWM’s focus is now nationally-oriented.
This shift will enable CPWM to better deliver on their mission, reaching more people and creating a wider impact.
The new appointments mark a significant step in CPWM’s journey towards a more inclusive and diverse music industry.
Collaborative Efforts
CPWM’s efforts are further strengthened by its collaboration with key partners across the music sector.
These partnerships are crucial in supporting CPWM’s initiatives and creating opportunities for marginalised communities.
The new leadership team’s varied expertise will play a vital role in fostering these collaborative efforts.
