Molly Thompson, a noted community engagement officer at a local support organisation, has been confirmed as a speaker for an upcoming breakfast event focusing on Birmingham’s burgeoning tech sector.
Thompson will join a distinguished panel of speakers, including Dr David Hardman MBE, CEO of Innovation Birmingham, Rob Valentine, head of Birmingham at a regional property company, Joel Blake OBE, founder of Cultiv8 Solutions and FeeLYX, and Jess Jeetly MBE, Managing Director of a petite fashion firm.
The event, slated for October 23rd at the iCentrum building on the Innovation Birmingham Campus, is set to explore whether Birmingham’s tech sector could potentially rival that of London. Among the topics to be discussed are the high property prices and rising staff costs in London, prompting numerous companies to consider relocating to cities such as Birmingham.
Birmingham already boasts over 3,000 tech firms and 41,500 digital tech jobs. It also attracts more tech graduates from London than any other UK city. The presence of 18 universities within an hour’s drive and the forthcoming 49-minute train journey to London with HS2 underline Birmingham’s significance in the digital sphere.
The recent acquisition of Innovation Birmingham by a prominent property company further underscores the robustness of the local tech ecosystem, which also features support organisations and well-known tech hubs. Further speakers include Sallie Allen, operations director at Enploy, Julian Dennard, fund principal at Mercia Technologies, Chris Meah, CEO of School of Code, and David Maidment, development lead at Voxpopme.
The breakfast event will run from 8am to 9:30am on October 23rd.
This event promises to be a pivotal gathering, shedding light on the growing prominence of Birmingham’s tech sector and its potential to become a significant player on the national stage.
