Exeter City Football Club has officially appointed Joe Gorman as the new Chief Executive, a role in which he will be responsible for steering the club’s strategic direction and overseeing its operational management.

Joe Gorman joined the EFL League One side as its finance chief in October of the previous year, and he will be succeeding Jeremy Tipper, who served as the interim chief executive. Gorman’s responsibilities will include the oversight of business functions such as finance, marketing, and human resources. Additionally, he will collaborate closely with the board to develop long-term strategic plans.

Nick Hawker, Chair of the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust, expressed enthusiasm about Gorman’s new role, stating: “We are delighted that Joe has accepted the position of chief executive. Since joining the club last year, he has shown real drive and determination to ensure the club succeeds and continues its path of strategic and sustainable growth as we move through the next phase of our progression.”

Acknowledging the contributions of the outgoing interim chief executive, Hawker remarked that Jeremy Tipper had been “fundamental” in advancing the club’s development off the pitch, delivering numerous changes and improvements, including the recruitment of a new executive team. Hawker added that Gorman’s appointment is a significant outcome of Tipper’s strategic succession planning.

The announcement of Gorman’s new role comes shortly after the team suffered a 2-1 defeat by Blackpool, which placed them in the 16th position in the league standings. Their subsequent match is scheduled for the following Saturday, where they will play against Stevenage.

Joe Gorman’s appointment marks a significant step in Exeter City Football Club’s strategic and operational development, ushering in a new era aimed at sustainable growth and long-term success.
