A specialist IT managed services provider based in Chorley has been acquired in a strategic move by a London-based firm. This acquisition marks an expansion into the North West region and strengthens the firm’s IT and Cyber Security Managed Services portfolio.
The Chorley-based IT managed services provider, which has over two decades of experience working with professional services organisations, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum. The acquiring company, a £113m turnover firm specialising in secure connected cloud solutions, aims to grow its presence in IT and Cyber Security Managed Services.
The acquired firm’s expertise includes delivering end-to-end managed IT services, support, hosted desktop, cloud solutions, and strategic guidance. This acquisition is the latest in a series of strategic moves by the acquiring company, which has a goal to triple its size over the next five years.
The acquisition is the first since the acquiring company secured a committed acquisition facility in June this year. It is the firm’s ninth acquisition since a management buyout led by its current CEO in 2019. This strategy has seen the business quadruple in size, pivoting to become one of the UK’s leading IT and Cyber Security-led managed service providers.
The acquired company’s co-founders, the Managing Director and Technical Director, have expressed their enthusiasm for the acquisition. They anticipate that the backing of the larger firm will allow them to extend their reach within professional services, including accountants, and to scale their business drawing on the group’s support.
Following the acquisition, the acquiring company will employ 540 people across nine office locations. The CEO of the acquiring company will become Chairman of the acquired firm, with additional directors from the acquiring company joining the board.
The CEO of the acquiring company stated, ‘I couldn’t be more pleased that the team is joining, building on our strategic, long-term growth strategy. We’re delighted to bolster our IT Centre of Excellence with its expertise and to provide support for the team to scale their business.’
The Managing Director of the acquired company echoed these sentiments, stating that they are excited about what the acquisition means for their staff and clients. They look forward to building on their strengths in IT Managed Services and adding further Cyber Security services, as well as Connectivity, Mobile, and Unified Communications.
This acquisition is a significant step in the strategic growth plan of the acquiring company, enhancing its capabilities and expanding its regional presence. The collaboration between the two firms is expected to bring substantial benefits to their clients and employees alike.
