Leading television facility has announced a significant investment of £5 million in new technology over the next 12 months.
Significant upgrades will be made to the studios, post-production facilities, media storage platforms, and the network supporting MediaCityUK. New equipment in the studios will include cameras, vision mixers, multi-viewer monitors, and core routers. In addition, the integration of next-generation augmented and virtual reality technology will enable content creators to explore new possibilities in programme making.
The post-production facilities will see an expansion of Flame and Baselight capability, as well as 4K monitoring, to meet the growing international demand for UHD content. The high-speed cross-site fibre network at MediaCityUK, which provides broadcasters and production companies with exceptional connectivity, will be replaced to handle the increased demands of the future.
CEO Mark Senior stated that this investment reinforces their commitment to continually enhancing the UK’s studios and post-production facilities. He emphasised the importance of helping content creators leverage UHD and new technologies like AR/VR to maintain a creative edge in a fast-moving and competitive market. He reflected on the company’s growth, noting, ‘It is seven years since we opened, and in that time, the business has grown into a thriving creative community.’
The £5 million investment will enable broadcasters and production companies to maximise the talent and resources available in this regional cluster, thereby sustaining the facility’s reputation as the UK’s leading television facility.
This forward-thinking investment is expected to bolster the creative capabilities and competitive edge of content creators, ensuring that the facility remains at the forefront of technological advancements in television production.
