Innovative Scheme Boosts Women in Tech

Innovative Scheme Boosts Women in Tech

A powerful initiative aims to transform the technology landscape by supporting women-led start-ups.

Plexal’s Plexiglass programme provides a launchpad for female entrepreneurs to thrive in a competitive sector.

Plexal has launched its Plexiglass accelerator programme, designed to boost female-led tech start-ups in London. Situated in the historic Olympic Park, this initiative will offer ten selected start-ups exclusive workspace, mentorship from industry giants like Barclays, and access to Plexal’s expansive innovation community, including institutions like UCL and London College of Fashion.

Despite growing awareness of the obstacles women face in technology entrepreneurship, women founded just 17% of start-ups and obtained only 9% of UK start-up funding in 2017. Plexiglass aims to bridge this gap by providing essential connections and support to female entrepreneurs.

Participants will benefit from a range of professional services support, covering vital areas such as marketing, legal services, and finance. The eight-week programme will culminate with a pitch event, drawing the attention of major corporations and potential investors.

The programme offers a platform for female start-up founders to connect with mentors, clients, and peer founders, fostering a supportive network. Participants will immerse themselves in pitch training and develop key skills such as founder fundamentals and go-to-market strategies.

Situated in Plexal’s Olympic Park location, the programme taps into an innovative ecosystem, fostering collaboration and cross-industry interaction. London’s dynamic tech scene welcomes this inclusion, promoting diversity and creativity within the 4th industrial revolution.

CEO Claire Cockerton emphasises Plexal’s mini-city concept model, inspired by the vibrant innovation that urban diversity nurtures. Such environments, she asserts, are crucial for unlocking the diverse potential and opportunities that lie ahead.

The Plexiglass initiative stands as a beacon of opportunity, highlighting the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as an emerging hub for London’s burgeoning industries. Local female entrepreneurs, in particular, are poised to benefit from the innovative and collaborative spirit thriving here.

Applications for Plexiglass close on 8th April, with the programme starting on 23rd April. It includes in-depth training on financing options and exit valuations, preparing participants for sustainable growth. Start-ups can apply via Plexal’s official website.

This initiative not only opens doors to resources but also positions participants at the forefront of the tech landscape, equipping them with the tools for success.

The Plexiglass programme is more than a training ground; it’s an opportunity for women in tech to break barriers and redefine industry standards. Its contribution to fostering a diverse tech sector is crucial in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The programme’s impact will resonate beyond London, inspiring similar initiatives worldwide. The development of female-led tech ventures is essential for a truly inclusive and innovative tech future.

Plexiglass, with its comprehensive support and strategic positioning, is set to make significant strides in empowering women in the tech sector. Its success lies not only in nurturing start-ups but in transforming the technological landscape to be more inclusive and innovative.

With its robust framework and visionary approach, Plexiglass is poised to empower women in tech and drive industry-wide transformation.
