Business technology solutions provider has introduced an innovative remanufacturing service for inkjet cartridges.
This forward-thinking initiative, which is provided at no cost, aims to bolster sustainability practices and contribute significantly to circular economies.
A new inkjet cartridge remanufacturing line has been established at a Recycling Technology Centre located in Wrexham, North Wales.
Once fully operational, it is expected to refurbish over two million inkjet cartridges annually, contributing immensely to sustainable practices.
The implementation of this new service is set to create 20 additional jobs, supplementing the current workforce of 185 employees in Wrexham.
This development signifies a positive step towards regional industrial growth and employment opportunities.
Both business and home users can return used ink cartridges without any cost implications.
Each cartridge undergoes a stringent process of inspection, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and refilling with original ink, ensuring that refurbished products match the quality of new ones.
This remarkable service enhances convenience for users while promoting sustainability.
The remanufacturing process guarantees that even damaged cartridges are repurposed or fully recycled, maintaining complete traceability of parts.
This new service builds on the pre-existing capability to remanufacture toner cartridges for laser printers.
Over 40 million toner cartridges have been remanufactured globally since the inception of the service in 2004.
The remanufacturing process curtails approximately 5,300 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
It is anticipated that this figure will increase with the new ink remanufacturing operations.
This initiative was recognised by IDC, which hailed it as a ‘Leader’ for sustainability in the print sector.
“Remanufacturing cartridges saves thousands of tonnes of carbon each year,” stated Craig McCubbin, Managing Director.
“This investment is just the beginning of a new era of innovation.”
The new service is already accessible in 30 European countries.
Each new cartridge includes a free-post envelope for returns, making it easier for users to participate in this sustainable practice.
This pioneering remanufacturing service highlights a significant step towards enhancing sustainability in printing technology.
With its commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility, it sets a new standard for future developments in the industry.
