HURST, an independent accounting and business advisory firm, has recently welcomed five new trainees, increasing this year’s total intake to nine. This announcement follows the earlier arrival of four trainees in April.
The newly recruited trainees are Hannah Davidson, Angus Hall, Ella Halsall, Danielle Morrison, and Daniel Saysell. These individuals will join the business services team to begin their training towards becoming chartered accountants. All of the newcomers are graduates from various northern universities, with diverse educational backgrounds. Hannah, Daniel, and Ella graduated in accounting and finance from Manchester Metropolitan University. Danielle holds a forensic psychology degree from the same institution, while Angus studied business economics at the University of Liverpool.
The group of four trainees who joined earlier this year includes Finnlay Blanchon, Aidan Coyne, Fergus Elstone, and Ahsan Waseem. Finnlay and Ahsan are college leavers, having completed their A-levels at Aquinas College in Stockport and Loreto College in Manchester, respectively. Aidan, on the other hand, holds a degree in food science from the University of Leeds, and Fergus graduated in international business from Sheffield Hallam University.
Additionally, Nathan Wood has joined HURST for a one-year placement while studying for a degree in accounting and finance at the University of Salford. The training programme for these recruits includes a mix of internal, external, and on-the-job technical training, alongside softer skills training. They will receive experience in several areas such as audit, accounting, and corporation tax.
Chris Stewardson, a partner at HURST who oversees trainee inductions and chairs the firm’s training committee, expressed enthusiasm about the new recruits: “Hannah, Angus, Ella, Danielle and Daniel are our first intake since our move to new offices and we are excited to welcome them into the business services team. They have joined from various northern universities, where they studied a range of subjects.”
Stewardson highlighted the comprehensive training programme and career progression opportunities offered by the firm, which he believes are key reasons prospective accountants choose HURST over other firms. “We’re proud to offer our trainees a first-class training programme, clear career progression and a supportive and friendly culture,” he noted, adding that the firm values its diverse team with varied educational backgrounds.
Looking ahead, Stewardson shared his optimism about the trainees’ futures: “We look forward to seeing all of our trainees develop their careers with us and playing their part in helping us to achieve our continued growth plans.”
HURST focuses on advising entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses across all sectors. The firm recently relocated its head office to a new flagship development in Stockport, occupying 11,000 square feet at 3 Stockport Exchange. The move was necessitated by the firm’s growth, having outgrown its previous premises at Tiviot Dale, where it had been based since 1996. Looking forward, the firm aims to expand its staff from 120 to around 170 over the next three years.
With the addition of these new trainees, HURST demonstrates its commitment to nurturing fresh talent and expanding its services. The firm’s comprehensive training programme and supportive environment continue to make it an attractive choice for aspiring chartered accountants.
