The GRC Group, a distinguished provider of software and tech-enabled services for managing business risks and regulatory compliance, has acquired Pentest People Ltd, a notable cybersecurity firm.

This acquisition signifies GRC’s strategic objective to solidify its position in the cybersecurity market, following their previous acquisition of Bulletproof in June. Pentest People will integrate with Bulletproof (UK) and Target Defense (USA) to form a newly established cyber division.

Pentest People, headquartered in Leeds, is renowned for offering penetration-testing-as-a-service (PTaaS) to clients in the UK. The company effectively merges consultant-led penetration testing with continuous vulnerability scanning using its proprietary software platform, SecurePortal. Serving over 1,200 clients directly and via channel partnerships, Pentest People also manages an acclaimed graduate trainee programme. The company’s services include pen testing, CHECK-accredited testing, and an expanding Incident Response service, thereby broadening the Group’s service offerings.

The acquisition will enable the combined cyber division of GRC to provide services to more than 3,000 clients in the UK and USA. This collaboration aims to address a critical need in a risk area that remains under-serviced.

Alex Dacre, Chief Executive of GRC Group, expressed enthusiastic support for this acquisition: “I’m delighted to welcome Andrew, Anthony and the Pentest People team to the Group. The addition of Pentest People following our acquisition of Bulletproof in June demonstrates our commitment to become an international leader in the Governance, Risk and Compliance market, delivering tech-led compliance to SMEs alongside leading enterprise SaaS point solutions. We look forward to working with the Pentest People team in further accelerating our collective growth.”

Founder and Managing Director of Pentest People, Andrew Mason, shared his positive outlook: “We were delighted to find a new owner for Pentest People that both shares our values and will be able to continue its rapid growth trajectory and focus on innovation. We look forward to extending the services we can offer, through a close relationship with our new sister company and the other businesses within the Group.”

Anthony Harvey, also Founder and Managing Director of Pentest People, echoed these sentiments: “We’re delighted to be joining The GRC Group to continue the development journey of Pentest People. It is clear that GRC is committed to developing outstanding cyber security and that our capabilities will complement the services already offered.”

The acquisition of Pentest People by GRC Group is a pivotal development in the cybersecurity landscape, enhancing the Group’s capabilities and service offerings in a rapidly evolving market.
