Support for Visually Impaired Passengers

In an effort to make rail travel more inclusive, the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is developing a beacon system designed to assist visually impaired passengers. This project has secured £350,000 in funding and focuses on guiding passengers through stations and to their seats efficiently.

Using strategically placed beacons, visually impaired passengers can receive real-time audio instructions, ensuring a seamless and independent travel experience. This innovation is expected to significantly enhance accessibility and confidence for visually impaired travellers.

Real-time Assistance for Disabled Passengers

Another critical project funded with £350,000 is the ‘Transreport Passenger Assist System.’ This technology allows disabled passengers to request real-time assistance during their journey.
