Bruntwood has introduced the name of its latest development at Alderley Park in Cheshire: Glasshouse. This new flagship development will offer 150,000 square feet of advanced, collaborative workspace aimed at tech companies and forward-thinking enterprises.
The name Glasshouse was chosen to embody the spirit of innovation and flourishing ideas. According to Alderley Park managing director Dr Chris Doherty, ‘The name Glasshouse reflects the essence of our site – a place where ideas can thrive and discovery-based businesses start and scale up.’
Scheduled for completion in summer 2019, Glasshouse will feature co-working, serviced, managed, and leased space options. Dr Doherty highlighted that the building will incorporate an impressive atrium with a café and networking areas to foster a collaborative community. ‘This will play an essential role in nurturing a collaborative community within the building and we very much hope that connections will happen naturally through physical and digital space,’ he added.
The development is set in a picturesque environment, overlooking farmland on one side and woodland on the other. Glasshouse occupants will have full access to Alderley Park’s amenities, which include a gym, football and cricket pitches, and cycle and running trails. The Park has already earned a global reputation in life sciences through its Mereside campus, accommodating 65 SMEs and 150 start-up businesses, with over 2,000 people currently working on site.
Additionally, recent planning permission has been granted for 20,000 square feet of dining and retail space within the Park. This includes an 8,000 square-foot pub and restaurant in the grade two-listed Tenants Hall, a farm shop in the former Stanley Arms, and 21 new hotel rooms. Companies at Glasshouse will enjoy flexible space configurations to accommodate their growth, alongside next-generation ultra-fast 100GB WiFi connectivity.
Alderley Park is a significant asset within the Cheshire Science Corridor Enterprise Zone, supported by the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership.
Glasshouse is poised to become a pivotal centre for innovation and business growth within Alderley Park. The development’s design and amenities aim to support a thriving, collaborative community, making it a key destination for tech and discovery-based businesses.
