In a significant move within the logistics sector, leading fulfilment provider Staci has been acquired by the Belgian postal operator bpostgroup for £1.3 billion. The acquisition, effective from August 1, 2024, aligns with bpostgroup’s strategy to bolster its presence in the e-commerce and omnichannel fulfilment market across Europe.
Staci, a specialist in fulfilment services with four sites in Blackburn, boasts a robust international footprint spanning Europe, Asia, and the USA. This acquisition allows bpostgroup to harness Staci’s expertise in managing intricate logistics flows and multichannel distribution, enhancing its service capabilities substantially.
Thomas Mortier, who has been at the helm of Staci Group since 1996, will assume the role of CEO of bpostgroup’s International 3PL division. Additionally, he will join the board of directors, contributing to the integration of Staci’s operations with bpostgroup’s network. Mortier is expected to drive synergistic growth opportunities in global markets.
Wayne Chapman, CEO of Staci UK, remarked that the partnership not only fortifies their ability to cater to and expand their clientele in the UK and Europe but also paves the way for entry into new markets including Poland and Australia. Staci UK serves a diverse array of sectors such as e-commerce, fast-moving consumer goods, retail, and health.
Backed by bpostgroup, Staci UK aims to cement its standing as a global leader in high-value, flexible logistics. The acquisition will open avenues for cross-selling and sectorial expansion, particularly through collaboration with affiliated bpostgroup brands. The combined strengths of these entities are anticipated to yield substantial value for their clients and stakeholders.
