Chantal Boyle is set to become the BBC’s new commissioning editor for entertainment, marking a significant addition to the broadcaster’s team.
Boyle is currently the executive producer of the upcoming Netflix reality series Cheaters: Unfinished Business, featuring Amanda Holden. She spent four years at Studio Lambert, where she served as the executive producer for Gogglebox on Channel 4. Her other recent credits include the Lifted format of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here South Africa for ITV1 and Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof for BBC1, produced by Hungry Bear.
During her tenure at the now-defunct label Betty, Boyle was the executive producer for Channel 4’s The Undateables. Her appointment to the BBC comes as Neil McCallum, the current daytime and entertainment commissioning editor, transitions to oversee a growing slate that includes The Traitors, Celebrity Traitors (working title), and The Traitors: Uncloaked. McCallum will be based out of Glasgow, where he will continue to lead entertainment for the nations, with responsibilities for major titles such as Pointless Celebrities, The Graham Norton Show, and The Hit List.
With Boyle’s appointment, the BBC’s entertainment commissioning team now comprises 10 members, led by Kalpna Patel-Knight. The team includes seven commissioning editors: McCallum, Pinki Chambers, Clodagh O’Donoghue, Sarah Clay, Ruby Kuraishe, Katie Taylor, and now Boyle. The senior commissioning editor is Jo Wallace, with Jamie Dodds serving as the commissioning executive.
Boyle’s extensive experience and diverse portfolio make her a valuable addition to the BBC’s entertainment commissioning team.
