A Newcastle-based fire safety and electrical compliance company has acquired three firms in the North West to expedite its growth.
ABCA Systems, with private equity backing from Trimountain Partners since 2021, has acquired Maintec Ltd, AGS Tech Ltd, and HBS Fabrication Northwest Ltd. These acquisitions are expected to contribute over £10 million to its annual turnover, currently approximately £40 million.
CEO Phil Miller, who assumed control of the family business in 2005, stated that the acquisitions of Southport’s Maintec and Blackburn-based AGS Tech will enhance the company’s expertise, capabilities, reach, and customer base in fire and security compliance. Additionally, these acquisitions provide significant opportunities to accelerate the company’s growth.
HBS Fabrication Northwest, a Wigan-based manufacturer and installer of steel security doors, will add new services for ABCA’s customers. Miller commented, ‘We are delighted to welcome these three leading companies into the group. They will help us provide an even higher level of service and satisfaction to our clients, especially those in the social housing sector.’
Miller also expressed excitement about the return of key individuals Chris King and Colin Prescott to the ABCA Systems Group, remarking that their past association and subsequent growth of AGS and HBS demonstrate their valuable expertise. Steve Cranshaw of Maintec will also join and strengthen the leadership team with his extensive knowledge and experience, further aiding growth.
