Quanterra Systems, an ecosystem monitoring company, has experienced significant growth over the past three years.
Founded in 2021 at the University of Exeter, the company has now taken up new, larger space at Exeter Science Park.
An ecosystem monitoring company has recently experienced significant growth over the past three years, leading to an expansion at Exeter Science Park. Quanterra Systems, originating from the University of Exeter and founded in 2021, focuses on monitoring carbon flows between ecosystems and the atmosphere. Their services cater to nature-based solutions, regenerative agriculture, and ecosystem science projects in the UK, US, Uganda, and Brazil.
The firm has transitioned from its former location within the net zero George Parker Bidder building to a new space that is nearly 50% larger. This move is a response to the company’s growth and the increasing need for additional workspace. In just three years, Quanterra has expanded to include nine dedicated employees, necessitating a larger facility to accommodate their operations.
Beccy Mitchell, the chief executive of Quanterra Systems, anticipates “substantial growth” for the business in the next five years. She said, “To be in a position where we can move from one location to another within the Science Park works very well for us because we don’t know when that growth is going to happen. So having that kind of flexibility of options is very helpful.”
Being based near the moors and the sea, with easy access to major cities, provides the team with the perfect balance between work and their personal interests. This accessibility to various environments supports their environmental commitment and enhances their work-life integration.
The park’s ability to support businesses at different growth stages plays a crucial role in facilitating Quanterra’s expansion. The flexibility in leasing options allows companies like Quanterra to adapt to their evolving needs seamlessly.
Quanterra’s significant expansion at Exeter Science Park is a testament to the growing recognition of the importance of environmental monitoring. Their progress demonstrates the potential for growth in the sector and the vital role that dedicated scientific research plays in addressing global environmental challenges.
As the company moves forward, their ability to adapt and expand within the Science Park will be essential in meeting the increasing demands for environmental monitoring services. The firm’s dedication to innovative solutions ensures that they remain at the forefront of ecosystem science and sustainability.
Quanterra Systems’ expansion at Exeter Science Park marks a significant milestone in their journey.
With continued growth and global impact, they are set to remain at the forefront of environmental monitoring.
