A specialist defence manufacturing firm has firmly selected the West Midlands for its new production facility, with a commitment to generating up to 150 skilled jobs within the next three years.

NMS UK, headquartered in Birmingham city centre, is set to establish its operations on a 7.9-acre site at Tachbrook Park in Leamington Spa. This new facility is dedicated to the production of protected patrol vehicles, adhering to UK government specifications and destined for export markets globally. The company aims to support the UK’s defence industry by maintaining intellectual property within the country.

The new production hub is anticipated to be fully operational by the end of this year. To support its strategy, NMS UK plans to recruit up to 150 skilled professionals in diverse roles such as engineering, factory management, training, simulation, and aftersales.

David Zevulun, UK Director of NMS UK, remarked, “Offering businesses world-class R&D assets, a diverse supply chain, and access to funding on their doorstep, we didn’t have to think twice about choosing the West Midlands for our new manufacturing facility. Our new home in Leamington Spa is key to our ambition to become an integral part of the British defence industry ecosystem, supporting a robust pipeline of UK-made armoured vehicles. We look forward to this exciting new chapter in NMS UK’s growth story.”

The West Midlands Growth Company and the Department for Business and Trade played pivotal roles in facilitating NMS UK’s investment. By connecting the firm with critical stakeholders, including suppliers and universities, and providing communications consultancy, these entities ensured a smooth establishment process.

West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker stated, “I want to make the West Midlands the best place in the UK to do business, and this investment by NMS demonstrates why our region continues to be the beating heart of UK advanced manufacturing and exporting. It will also mean 150 highly skilled jobs for local people.”

Cllr Martin Watson, portfolio holder for economy at Warwickshire County Council, also expressed his support, saying, “We welcome this latest investment from NMS UK, bringing another vehicle manufacturer to the area and the benefits this brings in terms of supply chain opportunity and resilience.”

NMS UK’s decision to establish its new production facility in the West Midlands signifies a substantial boost to the local economy and the UK’s defence manufacturing capabilities. By creating 150 skilled jobs and fostering a robust supply chain, this investment underscores the region’s vital role in advanced manufacturing and exporting.
