Liverpool’s Very Group has introduced a Data Academy in collaboration with Multiverse, aiming to enhance the data capabilities of its professionals.
The newly established academy will initially focus on developing 11 of the company’s data professionals through a degree-level Advanced Data Fellowship course spanning 39 months. This initiative is designed to build on their existing expertise and offer more comprehensive data analysis training. The goal is to help these professionals excel in strategic initiatives and further embed data-driven decision-making within the organisation.
Multiverse, valued at $1.7 billion following a $220 million fundraise in 2022, is the United Kingdom’s first EdTech unicorn. Since 2016, Multiverse has trained over 16,000 apprentices in data and digital skills through a unique apprenticeship model that combines work and learning. Partnering with more than 1,500 organisations, Multiverse aims to uplift AI, data, and tech competencies across various sectors.
The Very Group’s Data Academy will significantly impact the professionals enrolled, elevating their qualifications and improving how the organisation leverages data to inform strategy and enhance its services. Rob McCormick, head of data at the company, highlighted the importance of data in modern business decision-making and the high demand for skilled data teams. He expressed confidence that the partnership with Multiverse would enhance efficiency and productivity through better utilisation of data and automation.
Gary Eimerman, Chief Learning Officer at Multiverse, emphasised that investing in skills not only benefits businesses but also enriches individual careers. He noted that this collaboration would aid in enhancing the data capabilities of the organisation while also contributing to career growth for its employees.
The Very Group, with an annual revenue of £2.15 billion, is known for combining online retail and flexible payments across various categories, serving 4.4 million active customers. The new Data Academy represents a strategic move to further strengthen the company’s position in the digital retail market.
The launch of this Data Academy in partnership with Multiverse marks a significant step towards enhancing data proficiency and strategic decision-making within the organisation.
