Union Industries, a leading manufacturer of bespoke industrial doors, has successfully assisted Crown Lift Trucks in addressing significant operational challenges through the installation of a high-speed Ramdoor.
Crown Lift Trucks, based in Warrington, encountered several obstacles at its facility, including the necessity to segregate two adjoining units with different temperature requirements while accommodating the movement of high-mast forklift trucks through a large opening. In response to these challenges, Union Industries developed a bespoke solution that ensured the required opening height could be achieved without compromising functionality.
Moreover, the project faced limited space at high levels between structural steel frames, presenting a significant hurdle. Union Industries’ high-speed Ramdoor installation effectively addressed these issues, enhancing operational efficiency. The Ramdoor was designed to incorporate a pedestrian access door to segregate traffic flow, ensuring a safer working environment. Additionally, it features a dual-height opening facility, allowing for optimal heat retention while accommodating different forklift sizes.
The engineered seals and infills of the Ramdoor provide a seamless finish, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. It has also been designed to achieve a Class 5 wind resistance rating, allowing it to withstand strong winds and remain operational during severe weather conditions. This rating is supported by several features, including the thick Ramhide door curtain material, which is high-frequency welded to provide the strongest fabric joins available. Furthermore, heavy-duty wind-brace and wind-bar systems, along with extra-deep side guides, contribute to the Ramdoor’s ability to cope with high wind loads and pressures.
The Ramdoor also includes a ‘Crash Out’ facility to minimise downtime and repair costs in the event of vehicle or personnel impact to the bottom beam. This feature highlights the door’s resilience and practicality in an industrial environment.
