Councillors in Blackburn with Darwen have given the green light for the construction of 553 new homes. These homes, built by Persimmon Lancashire, will be located on land allocated for housing in the Blackburn with Darwen Local Plan. The development is set to cater to local families, first-time buyers, and those looking to downsize. Properties will range from two- to five-bedrooms, including terraced, semi-detached, and detached houses. This strategic location is only 10 minutes from both the town centre and Blackburn train station, offering excellent connectivity to the M6 and A666.
The new homes will come equipped with EV charging points and solar panels. These features underscore a commitment to modern, eco-friendly living. The development will also achieve a 10% biodiversity net gain through on-site enhancements and off-site contributions.
A significant investment of over £6 million will be made to improve local infrastructure. This includes contributions towards primary education, local highway improvements, and enhanced healthcare accessibility in the area.
