Channel 4 is set to enhance its footprint beyond London by establishing a new office in Manchester.

This development is part of Channel 4’s broader strategy to increase representation and champion diversity across the UK.

Channel 4’s decision to establish a new office in Manchester is aligned with its ‘Fast Forward strategy’. By relocating operations from its traditional base in London, the broadcaster aims to represent and champion the entire UK.

Manchester, a city of great importance to Channel 4, will host this office, demonstrating the broadcaster’s commitment to strengthen its presence in this vibrant region.

The new office will be part of the prestigious St Michael’s development, a project spearheaded by Gary Neville’s Relentless Developments.

This landmark development project worth £400m, will host Channel 4 along with other prominent brands like Hill Dickinson and luxury hotel operator W.

St Michael’s is projected to be the first fully Net Zero Carbon commercial development in Manchester.

The building’s design includes nine floors of office space and a Japanese-Peruvian rooftop restaurant by Chotto Matte.

Construction, which started in January 2022, is expected to complete later this year.

Alex Mahon, Chief Executive of Channel 4, acknowledges the growing momentum to enhance Channel 4’s presence nationwide. She highlights Manchester’s critical role in their strategic expansion.

She noted, “Manchester has always been a really important base for Channel 4, and we’re excited to be working with Gary Neville and his team at Relentless to grow our presence in this great city.”

Recently, UK tech giant Arm announced a significant expansion in the city, securing the largest lease deal in Manchester in two years.

This move further solidifies Manchester’s reputation as a key hub for industry and innovation.

The establishment of Channel 4 in St Michael’s strengthens not just diversity but also the economic profile of Manchester.

This development adds to the city’s growing portfolio of renowned brands, contributing to its appeal as a business destination.

Gary Neville expressed pride in welcoming Channel 4, noting the broadcaster’s reputation for bold, creative content.

He remarked on the significance of this addition to the impressive portfolio of brands at St Michael’s.

Channel 4’s expansion into Manchester symbolises a commitment to broader UK representation.

This move is a forward-thinking strategy that aligns with the broadcaster’s goals of diversity and regional development.
