Legendary UK games developer Team17 is celebrating the launch of its 100th game after floating on the London Stock Exchange this summer.

The studio, which has bases in Wakefield and Nottingham, has launched PLANET ALPHA 28 years after it was founded. The creator of the hit game series, Team17 has repositioned itself as a creative partner and developer of indie games alongside its traditional franchises. Recent successes have included titles such as The Escapists, Overcooked, and Yooka-Laylee.

It supports developers worldwide, and PLANET ALPHA has been developed in conjunction with Denmark-based independent developer Adrian Lazar. The game was recently showcased at Gamescom, one of Europe’s largest trade fairs for interactive games and entertainment, and is now available for purchase on various platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

PLANET ALPHA is an atmospheric platform adventure game with a unique art style that takes place in a living alien world, featuring creative puzzles and stealth mechanics. “Our 100th game marks an incredible milestone for Team17, having started life as an indie publisher in 1990,” said Debbie Bestwick MBE, CEO of Team17. “The release of PLANET ALPHA 100 games later demonstrates how we bring our unique expertise, perspective, values, and experience to working with independent developers. We look forward to continuing to work with our partners to bring the next 100 games to market.”

The launch of Team17’s 100th game, PLANET ALPHA, underscores its significant role in the gaming industry and its commitment to collaborating with indie developers.
