building society prepares to open branch of the future after six figure investment business manchester

A financial institution is gearing up to unveil a state-of-the-art branch in Carlisle. The significant investment is aimed at enhancing customer service and sustainability.

Slated to open on October 14, the new branch will merge two local branches and incorporate modern design elements. Customers can expect a more convenient and environmentally-friendly banking experience.

Significant Investment and Vision for the Future

The soon-to-open branch in Carlisle’s city centre is the result of a six-figure investment aimed at creating a “branch of the future”. The facility is set to open on October 14.

This initiative aims to simplify banking for customers while also prioritising environmental sustainability.

Enhanced Customer Experience

Claire Deekes, the society’s chief customer officer, highlighted the spacious new layout and the society’s continuing commitment to excellent service. “This has been a significant investment that will allow us to continue to provide our outstanding service to our members in the heart of Carlisle,” she said. “There’ll be more space, and the same friendly faces delivering our award-winning customer experience and service.”

Focus groups were consulted to understand customer needs, which informed the design and features of the refurbished branch. The initiative had been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic but was revisited and revised to meet evolving customer preferences.

Consolidation of Nearby Branches

The new branch will also see the amalgamation of two nearby branches from Fisher Street and Denton Holme. These branches will relocate to the new flagship site on October 11 and November 8, respectively.

Customers from these branches have been informed about the changes. Special provisions have been made for those identified as vulnerable. There will be no job losses; all staff will continue to work within the Carlisle branches.

Meanwhile, the society’s other branches at Kingstown and Rosehill will remain operational. Plans for future refurbishments will follow the blueprint set by the English Street branch.

Modern and Inclusive Design

The new branch features an open-plan space designed for a kinder banking experience. Customers will have the flexibility to bank as they please. There are also quiet areas for private conversations and dedicated spaces for community education on the top floor.

The design incorporates elements of Cumbria’s natural and industrial heritage. This is reflected in the green décor, brickwork, oak floors, and lacquered black steel.

Displays will feature local landmarks and landscapes, with digital screens showcasing scenic views and banking services. A stained-glass window celebrating the Lake District, created by artist Alex Haynes, is a standout feature.

Commitment to Sustainability

The refurbishment includes eco-friendly measures to minimise carbon footprint. Features like solar panels, low-energy lighting, a heat recovery system, and new windows to reduce heat loss are part of the design.

The branch also ensures accessibility with step-free access and wide spaces to accommodate customers who need extra support.

“We are committed to providing banking services in a way that customers want to use them. You’ll always be able to speak to a real person when you come to us,” added Claire.

Future Outlook

The new branch sets a precedent for future refurbishments, aiming to combine customer convenience with environmental responsibility. The society’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in this project.

Customers will be welcomed by colleagues in an inviting space, designed to make banking easier and more pleasant.

The unveiling of this new branch marks a significant milestone for the building society. Its focus on innovation and sustainability sets a new standard in the banking industry.

By combining modern amenities with environmental considerations, the society aims to meet the evolving needs of its customers while promoting a greener future.
