The renowned Italian restaurant operator, Big Mamma Group, is set to launch its latest dining venue, ‘La Bellezza,’ in Birmingham. Scheduled to open later this year, the new establishment will be located in Two Chamberlain Square, part of the prestigious Paradise estate.
The 4,800 sq ft restaurant will offer a delightful Italian dining experience, featuring a range of authentic dishes including homemade pizza, pasta, and gelato. With seating for 150 diners inside and an additional 25 on the terrace, ‘La Bellezza’ is poised to become a prominent culinary destination in Birmingham.
A Strategic Location
Big Mamma Group has strategically chosen Two Chamberlain Square for ‘La Bellezza’, a prime location within Birmingham’s £1.2 billion Paradise estate. This site was previously occupied by wine bar Vinoteca, which closed last year after a brief tenure.
The new restaurant will overlook the historic Council House and the vibrant Chamberlain Square, offering diners both exquisite food and picturesque views.
Expanding Presence in the UK
The launch of ‘La Bellezza’ in Birmingham marks Big Mamma Group’s expansion into its second UK city, following the successful operation of five restaurants in London. The group’s growth reflects its commitment to bringing high-quality Italian dining experiences to more locations.
Founded in France in 2013 by Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger, Big Mamma Group operates 26 restaurants across Europe, including popular venues like Pink Mamma and La Felicità in Paris, and Giacomo in Monaco.
Unique Dining Experience
Big Mamma Group aims to recreate the warmth and generosity of traditional Italian trattorias with ‘La Bellezza’.
The restaurant will serve a variety of homemade dishes, ensuring an authentic Italian culinary experience. Diners can expect an extensive menu featuring pizzas, pasta dishes, and gelato, all made with fresh ingredients.
The 4,800 sq ft venue will cater to 150 guests inside, with an additional 25 seats available on the terrace for those who prefer alfresco dining.
Paradise Estate’s Growing Appeal
‘La Bellezza’ will join a growing list of high-quality leisure operators on the Paradise estate, including Albert’s Schloss, F1 Arcade, and Dishoom. This expansion highlights the increasing appeal of the estate as a premier destination for dining and entertainment.
Ross Fittall, commercial development director at MEPC, the developer and asset manager of Paradise, stated, ‘The arrival of La Bellezza underlines the wider appeal of Paradise with its growing range of original, high-quality leisure operators.’
Developer and Property Insights
The strategic move to open ‘La Bellezza’ in Two Chamberlain Square aligns with Paradise’s vision of attracting top-tier leisure tenants. The estate has already seen success with several established office occupiers, bringing thousands of jobs to the area.
‘The fact it has now attracted another high-quality leisure operator in such a key location overlooking Chamberlain Square adds to its superb mix of office and leisure tenants,’ added Fittall.
Background of Founders
Big Mamma Group was founded by Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger in 2013. Their vision was to create restaurants that offer the warmth and communal feel of Italian trattorias, combined with high-quality dishes and a welcoming atmosphere.
The founders expressed their excitement about the new venture, stating, ‘Our main goal as restaurateurs is to bring to life the warmth and generosity of those little trattorias you find hidden throughout Italy. La Bellezza will be the epitome of this. We are hugely excited to be coming to Birmingham.’
Property Deal and Agents
The property deal for ‘La Bellezza’ was facilitated by property firms Graeme Wait and Bruce Gillingham Pollard.
This collaboration underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in securing prime locations for high-profile restaurant operators like Big Mamma Group.
‘La Bellezza’ is set to enhance Birmingham’s dining scene with Big Mamma Group’s signature Italian flair. The new venue is anticipated to become a favourite among locals and visitors alike.
With its strategic location in the bustling Paradise estate, ‘La Bellezza’ is well-positioned to attract a diverse clientele, further solidifying Birmingham’s reputation as a key destination for exceptional dining experiences.
