Barnsley digital agency has announced significant strides in boosting productivity, aiming to reduce the time required to deliver website projects by 50 per cent.
Located at the Business Village Barnsley, the agency has received grant support to facilitate an investment package intended to cut down the average time it takes to complete website projects. By addressing the often stop-start nature of website development—frequently hampered by waits for missing content—the agency’s new measures focus on reducing these inefficiencies.
Pilot projects have demonstrated that taking more control in-house and spearheading content creation can significantly reduce the average start-to-finish delivery time on major website projects from 151 days to 75 days. Following successful trials, these efficiency improvements are set to be implemented across all outputs.
The investment has led to the acquisition of new photography, videography, and drone equipment, skills development, and recruitment of additional staff, increasing the team size from seven to nine members. The additional staff include trainee web development and digital marketing executives.
The initiative is backed by a Business Productivity Grant from Barnsley Council via the Enterprising Barnsley programme, supported by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and part-funded by the UK’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
The agency’s creative director articulated that the productivity improvements were vital for both the firm and their clients. Despite meeting internal project deadlines, delays were often caused by waiting for content creation by external parties. He explained that bringing this work in-house allows greater control and eliminates delays caused by outsourcing and chasing clients.
The Business Productivity Grant supports capital projects for small businesses aiming to grow by enhancing productivity, developing new products, and entering new markets. The grant has accelerated the agency’s investment plans, enabling them to manage projects and cash flow more effectively. Clients benefit by receiving their new websites more quickly, and the agency completes jobs and invoices faster.
Since its establishment, the agency has seen a seven-fold increase in turnover, attracting high-value clients and expanding its reach to London, Finland, and the USA. The investment and expansion are set to further enhance its capacity and productivity.
The strategic investments and process optimisations are poised to substantially improve delivery times and overall productivity, benefitting both the agency and its clients.
