The search has commenced to identify the most promising tech talents in the Midlands, aiming to compile an inaugural list of ‘101 Birmingham and Midlands Tech’ businesses.
This initiative seeks to highlight a mix of established tech firms, rapidly growing start-ups, and emerging companies. The Midlands, particularly Birmingham, boasts a burgeoning tech scene with over 3,000 tech companies, providing a viable and affordable alternative to London.
According to Chris Maguire, the editor, it is the first regional list of its kind, focusing on Birmingham and the Midlands due to its dynamic tech environment. He emphasised the need to recognise the area’s best and fastest-growing tech companies, demonstrating that a thriving tech sector exists outside of London.
‘Essentially, we are looking for companies doing something extraordinary with tech. It might be disruptive or making a global impact. The sector does not matter as long as technology is in its DNA,’ stated Maguire. Previous lists have successfully highlighted various tech innovators, including ’51 Tech for Good Stars’, ’51 AI Innovators’, and ’35 Under 35′. The closing date for nominations is 14th September, and the full list will be published online.
The initiative to discover and celebrate tech stars in Birmingham and the Midlands is a testament to the region’s thriving and dynamic tech ecosystem.
