Generator and Newcastle Tech Trust are collaborating to host a series of workshops designed to elevate tech start-ups in the North East region. This initiative aims to address critical needs of early-stage, high-growth technology companies, covering topics such as customer development, investment acquisition, user base expansion, MVP building, and cashflow forecasting.
Over the coming months, six sessions will take place at various venues across the North East, beginning with an initial workshop on Monday, 17th September at PROTO in Gateshead. This first workshop, titled Startups 101, will delve into proven methods for identifying market opportunities and targeting customers.
Notable speakers include Tristan Watson, a former start-up entrepreneur and current CEO of Ignite, and Jo York, co-founder and COO of Ricochet and co-founder of WatchWithMe. These sessions, made possible through the European Regional Development Fund, are free for early-stage tech start-up founders from North East England, encompassing County Durham, Northumberland, and Tyne & Wear.
Generator CEO Jim Mawdsley expressed enthusiasm about the workshops, stating, “We are thrilled to bring North East businesses a unique series of tech workshops that will cover topics such as building an MVP right through to what investors are looking for.” He added, “Working within the digital sector over the past few years through Digital Union has really exposed us to the pain points of both digital and tech businesses. This series aims to overcome those barriers and help businesses get to that next level. All going well, this could be the start of a long-term collaboration.”
Echoing these sentiments, Watson mentioned, “Newcastle Tech Trust is delighted to be working with Generator to provide much-needed support to early-stage founders in the region. We know from personal experience how hard it can be when you’ve had that world-changing idea to take those first steps into building a business, and these workshops are designed to give everyone the skills they need to launch a start-up.”
This collaborative workshop series between Generator and Newcastle Tech Trust represents a significant opportunity for tech start-ups in the North East to gain crucial skills and insights, potentially marking the beginning of a fruitful long-term partnership.
