- Increased episode order indicates the growing popularity of the series.
- The show has seen notable growth in linear and streaming audiences.
- Upcoming Christmas specials to continue into 2024 and 2025.
Channel 4 has made a strategic decision to relocate the production of its popular daytime series, Chateau DIY, to Yorkshire. This move is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing the broadcaster’s regional presence. A new two-year agreement with Spark Media Partners enables this transition, as the series will be managed out of Spark Media North’s Sheffield office.
The success of Chateau DIY is evident in the increased order of episodes. Originally commissioned for thirty episodes each series, Channel 4 has now expanded this to forty-five episodes over the next two years. This increase reflects the growing popularity and viewer engagement associated with the show.
Channel 4 reports a significant rise in both linear and streaming audiences for the series. Chateau DIY achieved a peak audience share of 8% in its 5pm slot in 2024, averaging 622,000 viewers, which is notably higher than the channel’s benchmark of 480,000.
The recommissioning also secures continued festive programming for the show. Chateau DIY at Christmas, which first aired in 2021, will continue with two additional five-part series planned for 2024 and 2025. This expansion further cements the show’s place in Channel 4’s lineup.
The production will be overseen by Joff Hatfield-Powell, Spark’s Chief Creative Officer since 2020, who will continue his role as Executive Producer. Richard Park will join as Series Editor, with Izzy Boots as Line Producer, ensuring the series maintains its standard while offering opportunities to nurture creative talents in the region.
Channel 4’s decision to relocate Chateau DIY to Sheffield aligns with its strategic goals to enhance regional productions while capitalising on the show’s increasing popularity.
