Chester Zoo’s Halloween event has been remarkably elevated through its collaboration with Flipbook Studio, a prominent creative production company based in Manchester. This partnership has borne an innovative project named ‘BEASTS’, marking a significant advancement in immersive entertainment.
The ‘BEASTS’ experience captivates audiences with its exquisite 360-degree visual displays and immersive floor projections. Using cutting-edge technology, the eight-minute animated narrative transports visitors into a realm of fantasy populated by mythical creatures, creating a unique experience that engages all ages.
This creative venture not only mesmerizes audiences but also underscores Chester Zoo’s commitment to fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting conservation efforts. The integration of storytelling, art, and technology here is seamless, augmenting the zoo’s educational endeavours.
The narrative, expertly penned by zoologist and acclaimed author Dr Jess French, invites participants into uncharted territories, encouraging them to explore and understand the complex ecosystems presented within. This narrative prelude to Dr French’s fantasy novel ‘Beastlands: Race to Frostfall Mountain’ adds depth to the immersive experience.
Chester Zoo’s marketing head, Helen Dean, accentuates the significance of this event in enhancing public understanding of both mythical and real species. She states, ‘Halloween gives us the chance to engage families with fun experiences, and throw a spotlight on amazing species which can sometimes be misunderstood but are incredibly important to our ecosystems.’ The project seamlessly integrates the entertainment aspect with the zoo’s mission to support conservation initiatives.
Moreover, beyond the ‘BEASTS’ experience, the Super-Natural Halloween event presents myriad family-oriented activities including interactive trails and giant pumpkin sculptures, drawing visitors until the event’s conclusion on November 3, 2024.
This collaboration between Chester Zoo and Flipbook Studio exemplifies how innovation and creativity can effectively drive conservation awareness.
